What is the SAT?
The SAT is developed by the College Board. Questions on the SAT will not ask you to recall what you've memorized, but to invite you to exercise your thinking skills. It assess one's ability to apply the knowledge and skills you'll need in college and career. It is one of the most commonly accepted form of standardized tests in evaluating one's scholastic aptitude in the college admission process.
The SAT has four sessions, including one reading session, one writing and language session, and two math sections. Essays are optional and depending on your high school and college choice, you may decide whether or not to take the Essay. The breakdown is as structured as below:

The SAT includes two section scores: (1) Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, combining the results on both the Reading session and Writing and Language Session. (2) Math, which consists of the two portions of the Math test. Each of the two sections will be reported on a scale ranging form 200 to 800. Scores of the Essay will be reported separately and will not have any effect on the other sections. Therefore, one's total score will range between 400 to 1600 and will be the sum of your scores of the two sections.
