Kevin Yao - Perfect SAT Score Coach

PrepMasters Beginnings

It all started with Kevin, an engineering major who just couldn’t stop taking things apart. Not just computers or gadgets—but vending machines, Rubik’s cubes, even claw machines at the arcade (yes, he figured out the trick to winning every time). To him, everything had a system, a pattern—a hidden logic waiting to be cracked.

Then came the SAT. While everyone else saw it as a stressful exam, Kevin saw a game that could be decoded. A set of rules, predictable patterns, and just like a vending machine hack—a way to beat it with the right moves.

Back in college, his "classroom" wasn’t a classroom at all—it was a noisy corner in Starbucks. Amid the whir of coffee machines and the chatter of strangers, Kevin sat with students, sketching out strategies on napkins. People-watching became a habit—observing how people think, what motivates them, and ultimately, what they really want. and realizing what really mattered:

Students didn’t need more textbooks or generic test tips. They needed a coach who could break things down, hand them the right tools, and show them how to win.

So, the roundtable discussions began—not in a lecture hall, but in a place where ideas flowed as freely as the coffee. What started with a handful of students and some scribbled notes has grown into a thriving community of learners who approach academics the same way Kevin approached claw machines—with logic, creativity, and the confidence to outsmart the system.

At PrepMasters, we don’t just teach. We reverse-engineer success. Whether it’s cracking the SAT, navigating college admissions, or mastering a tough subject, we make it simple, strategic, and effective.

So, the question is—will you join us?

Our Philosophy

Four young adults posing casually on industrial-style stairs in a bright, modern interior with a bookshelf and potted plants.

At PrepMasters, we don’t emphasize chasing an inevitable "bright future." Instead, we believe in being present in the moment of learning—not just in the pursuit of knowledge and growth, but in every interaction, every shared second with others. It’s about the time we’ve spent together.

That’s why we are dedicated to creating dynamic, personalized learning spaces. We invite students and parents to join us in shaping new, meaningful learning experiences together. Every coach at PrepMasters shares this belief.

  • "Kevin has a way of figuring out what’s holding you back before you even realize it. He doesn’t waste time on things that don’t matter—he focuses on what you need to get ahead. I was struggling with pacing and second-guessing myself, and he knew exactly how to fix it. Honestly, I wish all my teachers had his mindset." — Emily C (Pacific American School)

  • "I thought I needed another test-prep course, but what I really needed was a coach like Kevin. He showed me that learning isn’t about cramming—it’s about seeing the patterns and playing smart. The SAT was just the start—now I apply the same mindset to everything. Working with him made me realize that being strategic matters way more than just working hard." — Sophia T (Taipei American School)

  • "When I first met Kevin, we were going over SAT problems at Starbucks and it was so noisy. It shouldn’t have worked—but somehow, it did. He made learning feel casual, like a conversation, but at the same time, I was picking up strategies that completely changed how I approached the test. It was the first time studying felt natural instead of like a chore." — Danny W. (Taipei American School)
